We are dedicated to working with the rural poor, women, children, families and their communities
CRAN's broad mission is to work towards the improvement in the quality of life of the rural poor and disadvantaged communities in a holistic manner (physically, socially, economically and spiritually), with emphasis on the economic and social empowerment of women in a professional and qualitative manner as well as the right of children to quality education.
CRAN's broad vision is to see a Ghanaian society in which poverty and its concomitants including illiteracy, ignorance and deprivation which characterise the lives of majority of the country's rural population are substantially reduced if not completely eradicated leading to total development and the attainment of social justice.
The Christian Rural Aid Network (CRAN) is a rural development, advocacy and relief organisation dedicated to working with the rural poor, women, children, families and their communities. CRAN established in 1993 with its seat in Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana, was founded by a small group of university teachers and development professionals led by Dr. Patrick Agbesinyale who trained as a development planner. Initially, CRAN was to serve as a kind of social laboratory for testing some of the development theories and models taught in the lecture rooms and in the faculties. But the organisation has grown beyond this into a formidable development NGO working for rural poverty reduction and rural development in Ghana.
